Coat microscopic beads with nanowires and you've got a better nasal spray.
The silicon-nanowire-coated beads adhere better to mucous membranes than non-coated beads. The nanowires increase the force required to lift the beads from a mucous membrane by as much as 100 times. The beads could be used to improve the uptake of drugs delivered through mucous membranes.
